21st June, the longest night of the year

Today 21 June 2014, we people of the southern hemisphere (south of equator) are going to experience the longest night of the year while people residing on the Northern Hemisphere (north of equator) will experience the longest day of the year. This is One of the results of Earth having a tilted axis is, for better or worse, the seasons. Today, we'll be at one extreme point in Earth's seasonality: the summer solstice. Here's what that means.

The axis of the earth is tipped 23.45°. This means that most of the time part of the earth is tipped toward the sun and is getting more sunlight and warmth, and another part is tipped away and is getting less sunlight and warmth. When the northern hemisphere is tilted toward the sun, the days are longer and the sun is high in the sky. The weather is warmer and we have summer. Six months later, the northern hemisphere is tilted away from the sun and the days are shorter and the sun is low in the sky. The temperature grows cold and we have winter. That's why countries that resides on the northern hemisphere are experiencing summer on June and July, while we people of Southern Hemisphere are experiencing winter!! Yeah, it's truly amazing how our planet tends to balance things especially these seasons!!!
